Andy Hirt

Andy Hirt was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Columbia, Md. He came to Chicago for medical school and decided to stay to begin raising a family. After leaving a pediatric residency at the University of Chicago's Wyler (now Comer) Children's Hospital, Andy fell into teaching kindergarten by accident but fell in love with it. Despite previously aspiring to be a physician, he's never had even a hint of regret about becoming a teacher, he says. Andy joined Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in 1994. He holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University and an M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
