BZAEDS fifth-graders recently returned from a shabbaton at Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute. During the trip, they were involved in a range of activities including Shabbat preparations, group time in the gym, hearing stories, singing and dancing during a Kabbalat Shabbat service, eating tasty meals, reading from the Torah, participating in a talent show and just hanging out together and making new friends.
Being away from school affords our students the opportunity to get to know each other in a new and different way, and sharing a complete Shabbat experience helps them realize some of what Shabbat can be.
