Lauren Vander Pluym

Originally from Southern Illinois, Lauren migrated north to Chicago to pursue her master's degree in anthropology at the University of Chicago. After completing an internship at Human Rights Education Associates in Concord, Mass., she felt a strong desire to return to teaching and become a practitioner of human rights education. In her second year at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, Lauren teaches sixth-grade history and writing, along with the "big ideas" course for seventh-graders and "world issues" course for eighth-graders. She also serves as a technology leader and leads technology related professional development around Google Apps for Education and Moodle software. She previously taught politics and world history at Walter Payton College Prep High School.
