Mifgash Haverim 2010

Mifgash Haverim – 2010

For the seventh year, our school is hosting Mifgash Haverim – an encounter among friends – with our Israeli Partnership 2000 city, Kiryat Gat. Funded by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, a group of eighth-grade students and two teachers from the Rogozin School in Kiryat Gat arrived February 4 to spend a week in our school community.

Eighth-grade Day School families are hosting the students and teachers from Rogozin and introducing them to American life, Chicago style. On February 5, the Class of 2010, together with the Kiryat Gat students, traveled to Camp Chi for a Shabbaton, where they created a student community filled with tradition, lots of fun, good food and new friendships.

Super Bowl Sunday had the kids roaming all over the city of Chicago in a scavenger hunt planned by eighth-grade parents, followed by a Super Bowl party.

On Monday and Tuesday the Israeli students will visit classes throughout the school and present a short performance each day at lunch to give us a glimpse of their school and life in Kiryat Gat. We are fortunate to have an eighth-grade mifgash here in Chicago and we will meet the students again when our class travels to Israel.
