Summer Reading - First Grade
Dear Parents,
After you and your child read a story together (it is age-appropriate for you to read aloud to your child), we'd like you and your child to fill in a reading log for each book. Click here to complete/submit the log online, or click here to download and print a reading log form (printed forms should be returned to homeroom teachers or Mrs. Citrin, the library media specialist, in the fall). Children may use invented spelling or dictate their ideas to you.
Students should attempt some independent reading only if they are ready. Please do not pressure your child into reading on his/her own. Let it be his/her idea. When first-graders return in September with a least 10 reading logs completed, they will receive a fun reward. Books read for the BZAEDS Summer Reading Program can be used for the Chicago Public Library Summer Reading Program, too.
Have a great summer!
